This position is based out of PEMC in Kentucky.
Who we're looking for
Toyota's Manufacturing Innovation & Transformation (MIT) - Manufacturing Center of Excellence is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer, Production Engineering.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement innovation activities improving manufacturing competitiveness.
Reporting to the MIT Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Engineering Division and SOAR Group's objective to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
What you'll be doing
- Use Toyota Production Systems first, then apply new technology to reduce waste
- Design automated machines and components
- Lead projects from concept to large-scale launch in production by creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting established due dates and milestones.
- Develop new technology solutions and test them in a manufacturing setting
- Use strong communication skills to create proposals, negotiate roles and responsibilities, and gain approvals.
- Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specification is met from planning to production
- Follow Toyota's policies and procedures to ensure equipment and process safety
- Present reports and updates to stakeholders, management, and executives
- Communicate with stakeholders, keep them informed and engaged, and resolve issues
- Document the project process and maintain project documentation
- Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% both domestic as well as international (Canada)

- Ability to work overtime (~20%) as required. This could include weekends and shutdown based on phase of project
What you bring
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in development of innovative projects in a manufacturing environment
- At least 2 years of Advanced Robot programming experience
- Experience using robot simulation software
- Advanced programming experience with robot vision systems
- At least 2 years of Advanced Controls/PLC programming experience
- Project Management experience including writing detailed scope of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates
- Proven use of computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) engineering software techniques
- Proven demonstration of installing manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
Added bonus if you have
- At least 1 year of working experience with physical AI
- At least 2 years of experience at a Toyota North American Manufacturing Company (NAMC)
- Working knowledge of TMS/TMR, or MMS/MMR
- Experience using G-AMS to check equipment readiness
