US Employment Tax Partner - San Jose

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the accurate and timely withholding, reporting, and filing of payroll taxes for U.S. operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax regulations, legislative changes, and agency requirements;
- Ensures all employment taxes (including social security) are correctly withheld, reported and paid across for all fringe benefits and compensation items;
- Oversee preparation, review and ensure timely delivery of W-2 / W-2Cs;
- Manage employment tax audits and manage responses to inquiries from taxing authorities;
- Manage and resolve any payroll tax notices received from various tax authorities;
- Support operation of US domestic business travel programme;
- Establish and maintain policies and controls to manage employment tax risks;
- Reconcile quarter and annual tax returns including 941s, 940s, state and local returns;
- Respond to employee payroll tax queries and provide a high level of customer service meeting SLAs;
- Monitor legislative changes in US employment tax laws and provide timely updates to the relevant business departments;
- Collaborate with payroll team on tax legislative changes and updates that impact daily operations and implementation projects;
- Collaborate with finance, legal, benefits and HR operations and respond to ad hoc tax information requests as required;
- Assist with testing tax-related system upgrades and automations;
- Develop and maintain documentation of payroll tax standard operating procedure (SOPs);
- Continually identify process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of payroll tax touching processes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field;
- Advantageous to have 5+years of payroll tax experience;
- Working knowledge of ADP Global View and Smart Compliance;
- Proven expertise in payroll compliance and administration, with a strong background in tax consulting, preferably in-house;
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll compliance, in particular CA and NY;
- Experience in managing payroll tax audits and resolving complex tax issues;
- In-depth understanding of U.S. payroll regulations, federal and state tax law as well as payroll compliance requirements in North America.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building US employment tax calculator able to calculate gross to net.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $91440 - $220400 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
