Software Engineer, TikTok E-commerce Risk Control - USDS
Responsibilities
About the Team:
The E-commerce platform at TikTok operates on a massive scale and serves millions of sellers, creators and influencers across the world. Risk control plays a critical role in keeping the ecosystem healthy, by developing extensive machine learning models to detect malicious sellers/creators/buyers based on massive data and features. The USDS E-commerce Risk Control Engineering team is responsible for building highly efficient, scalable and stable infrastructure to support Risk Control machine learning and big data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Drive projects committed to building and operating innovative big data computing frameworks and storage systems to empower large-scale Risk Control machine learning systems.
- Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts.
- Drive innovation efforts, and bring in new ideas and technologies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or above, major in computer science or related technical disciplines.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in big data processing and storage frameworks, e.g. Hadoop, Flink, Spark, Kafka, Hive, HBase, Redis, RocksDB, etc.
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals (coding, algorithms, data structures, software design) and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to think critically and to formulate solutions to problems in a clear and concise way;
- Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Risk Control domain.
- Experience with building large-scale machine learning infrastructure.
- Experience of Peta Byte level data processing.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $259200 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
