Software Engineer Intern (TikTok-Social-Friend Interaction) - 2026 Summer (BS/MS)
Responsibilities
Social Interaction team is mainly focusing on building a reliable and adaptive platform that enables users to meet and interact with their real-life friends seamlessly on TikTok, and encourage them to share their life moments with each other and stay connected regardless of where they are. Some core features and components we build and maintain include Story, Video Like, Comment, Friends Tab, Inbox Tab, Repost, TikTok Now feature and standalone app, etc. We seek talented individuals who enjoy the intersection of product, data, design, and engineering. As a Social team member, you'll help us improve the TikTok social experience and bring joy to hundreds of millions of users, every day.
We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Turn your ambitions into reality as your inspiration brings infinite opportunities at TikTok.
Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks.

- Work closely with our product team to conceptualize, develop, and launch new and innovative features
- Participate in the process of designing, architecting and implementing well-tested Objective-C software which powers social experiences in TikTok

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Masterin Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026;
- Strong understanding of software development principles, capabilities, and limitations of iOS/Android platform
- Proficiency in Objective-C or Swift
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
- Ability to understand and debug large and complex code bases
- Good team communication and collaboration skills
- Passion and experience building consumer-facing products is a huge plus; We would love to hear about apps you've developed!
