Senior Product Manager (AI Safety Frameworks) - TikTok Safety Product (San Jose)

About the Team
The Safety Product (or Platform Responsibility)team is at the forefront of building and optimizing content safety systems. With a focus on optimizing and advancing content safety, we leverage advanced large language models to enhance review efficiency, risk control, and user trust. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, we deliver scalable solutions that keep pace with rapid global growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of AI-driven safety frameworks that translate policy and risk requirements into scalable product solutions;
- Drive complex projects independently, define the roadmap for AI-based safety products, set measurable success metrics, and ensure continuous iteration and improvement;
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (ML engineers, data scientists, policy experts, operations) to develop structured, interpretable, and automated systems that strengthen platform safety and governance;
- Apply data analysis, natural language processing, and large-scale machine learning methodologies to identify risky content (e.g., violence, fraud, abuse) and design product strategies to mitigate harm;
- Establish workflows to analyze, prioritize, and validate AI-based governance solutions across global markets.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of product management experience in consumer-facing mobile/web companies, ideally in AI/ML or Trust & Safety domains;
- Hands-on experience working with AI/ML systems or NLP technologies, and ability to translate model capabilities into product solutions;
- Proven track record of delivering impactful products and/or process improvements that enhance safety, governance, or user experience;
- Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to evaluate AI/ML model quality, interpret trade-offs, and guide iteration;
- Excellent communication and project management skills, capable of influencing and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Trust & Safety, safety-by-design, or risk/governance products;
- Familiarity with online safety regulations, AI policy trends, and emerging governance practices in the tech industry;
- Experience managing products with safety-related metrics (e.g., precision/recall, error trade-offs, governance impact);
- Experience with human-in-the-loop and machine moderation systems for reducing harmful content;
- Experience working with international teams across diverse markets, time zones, and cultural contexts.

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $149040 - $311600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
