Responsibilities
About the team:
SoundOn is a platform powered by TikTok to help new and independent music creators distribute their music globally.
Our Artist Sales/BD team looks after our relationships with Artists & Labels. Our goal is to inspire creativity and foster long-lasting relationships with our partners by providing music distribution white-glove service, in-depth content strategy, elevation opportunities, and accessibility to all that TikTok has to offer. SoundOn Distribution Service makes sure music from artists is available on all music platforms, allowing them to reach global audiences. Our priority is to find someone who is passionate about working with music labels and understands their structure, needs, and the dynamics of managing multiple artists.
This will allow us to build a strong label service based on data-driven decisions, A&R data scouting for artist signings, and a clear understanding of label benchmarks to improve digital performance.
In addition, we also oversee strategy and implementation of an artist-centric value proposition at TikTok, which includes elevation opportunities, establishing a series of artist education initiatives, driving artist communications plans, and building and growing niche communities within the artist ecosystem through programs and events.
- Negotiation of music labels, with catalogs and frontline for acquisition.
- Execute SoundOn content supply strategy, including but not limited to signing labels & artists for their catalogs & new releases.
- Focused on data analysis to understand label artists & track performance, market opportunities, and business forecasting based on market share impact.
- Manage business objectives, such as labels & artists onboarding, number of new releases, number of catalogue migration, streams and performance.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to product, content strategy, and promo to ensure success of labels & artists on all digital platforms.
- Grow and maintain a growing trustful relationship between artists/lables and the platform.
- Strong network connections and relations in the music industry, specially relations with labels.
- Develop a close-on relationship with artists/lables' teams (marketing, promo, artistic) to develop artists' growth and song performance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification(s):
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Music business, Economics, Law or any other relevant field, or the equivalent experience.
- Good negotiations skills, based on sales and acquisition.
- 5+ years in the music industry as A&R, business development, labels & artists acquisition, development or label relations.
- Have in-depth knowledge of Music rights.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, including expertise in contracts evaluation and music legislation.
Preferred Qualification(s):
- Strong team cooperation: able to work on cross-functional projects.
- Good knowledge of digital platforms, especially TikTok.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $103360 - $273600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
