Public Policy Manager - Japan

Responsibilities

The Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.

In this role, you will:
- Research, analysis, devise strategic approach plans for public sectors for the issues related to TikTok's business domain.
- Conduct outreach to policymakers, stakeholders, and influencers driving critical policy areas not limiting to internet safety for minors, personal data protection, hate speech, suicide prevention, animal abuse protection.
- Work with industrial associations, allies, and NPOs.
- Provide ad hoc advice to the public sector for better usage of internet platforms

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Substantial years of experience working in or around public policy areas, and understanding culture and methods to communicate with policymakers.
- BA/BS in public policy, politics, law, or other arts and relevant field
- Excellent communications skill in Japanese, and business level communication skill in English as this role will require working with both external and internal stakeholders in both languages.
- Has logical thinking and excellent communication skills.
- Passionate in pursuing success in the growing the company and enjoy working in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with relevant technology policy issues in Japan.
