About the Team:
The Government Relations and Public Policy team covers a wide range of responsibilities: government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships. The mission of the team is to earn trust and prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok.
We are seeking a dynamic E-Commerce Policy Lead to join our Government relations team. This person will play a crucial role in advancing TikTok's mission by navigating complex regulatory landscapes. The position bridges government relations and e-commerce, requiring expertise in relevant policy areas. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive approach to managing risks and opportunities in a rapidly-scaling business, with the ultimate goal of helping create a seamless, trusted online shopping experience.

Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast of emerging e-commerce policy trends and developments in Brazil, and track public policy. developments that could impact TikTok Shop, providing insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders on potential implications for TikTok's business and operations.
- Drive internal alignment and strategies around risks and opportunities for TikTok's e-commerce operations.
- Drive TikTok Shop's public policy and government affairs strategy for Brazil, with an eye towards integration of strategies across LATAM and globally.
- Build and execute engagement strategies in Brazil with external stakeholders, including with elected officials, government agencies, trade associations and industry partners.
- Lead government advocacy and public policy engagement in partnership with the Brazil GR team, along with Legal, Comms and business partners.
- Lead on the development of public policy positions and consultation responses.
- Manage consultants and establish meaningful relationships with trade associations.
- Work on strategic cross-functional workstreams and forums to drive best-in-class operation of the business in the region, in partnership with other regional leaders.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Extensive experience working in public policy, and a strong understanding of what makes effective government relations and public policy strategies successful.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High level of expertise in legislative, public policy and regulatory issues affecting e-commerce (ex. Product safety, intellectual property, customs/trade, ESG, taxes, others.).
- Strategic thinker, strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills.
- Collaborative and engaging, able to work effectively with multiple cross-functional teams.
- A strong track-record of working independently, and leading projects from conception to successful completion across multiple markets.
- An authentic interest in building strong relationships with your teammates and key external stakeholders, as well as a willingness to jump into tasks with a positive and can-do attitude.
- Outstanding communication and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex policy issues into simple explanations and compelling messages.
- Experience building, managing, leading, and inspiring creative, collaborative, and high-performing teams, and proven performance indirectly leveraging cross-functional teams to drive strategic growth initiatives.
