Product Manager (MisInfo & AIGC Governance) - TikTok Safety Product (San Jose)

About the Team
The AIGC Safety team is at the forefront of protecting TikTok's community from AI-generated misinformation and harmful content. Our mission is to accurately detect AI-Generated Content, disclose it transparently to users, and moderate violative content that threatens platform integrity. As Generative AI makes creating realistic content more accessible, ensuring safe consumption of AIGC has never been more critical.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for AIGC Detection, Disclosure, and Moderation within TikTok's Integrity & Authenticity team.
- Drive improvements to AIGC detection models across video, photo, and audio-addressing current gaps in model coverage, recall, and precision.
- Enhance AIGC labeling and disclosure products to improve transparency
- Understand best of class AI-Generated content disclosure signals including metadata and watermarking
- Build recall strategies that proactively identify harmful AIGC before it reaches users
- Collaborate with ML, Policy, Operations, and regional partners to integrate AIGC signals into moderation key systems and workflows
- Navigate regulatory requirements (EU AI Act, DSA, US state laws) and represent TikTok's AIGC safety commitment externally.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager (or a strong demonstrated ability to rapidly develop PM expertise through ownership, execution, and impact).
- Proven working knowledge in Trust & Safety, content moderation, or platform integrity.
- Deep experience working with Algo, ML engineering teams on model related projects.
- Strong logical reasoning and critical thinking skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems into structured solutions.
- Evidence-based and data-driven mindset; comfortable using metrics and analysis to identify problems, uncover opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
- Clear communicator who can articulate product vision, execution trade-offs, and lead cross-team collaboration to solve complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning systems, particularly in AIGC detection, deepfake identification, or content moderation.
- Experience in Trust & Safety, Misinformation, or related domains.
- Familiarity with policy-driven systems, C2PA standards, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Experience working with international partners across different time zones and cultures.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $149040 - $311600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
