Physical Security Regional Manager, West Region - USDS
Responsibilities
About the Team
With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and safety, we are seeking an experienced Physical Security Leader to lead 24/7 site security operations (e.g., access control, video management, visitor management, badging operations, incident & emergency response) and contract security personnel. This role will report to the Head of Physical Security. You will manage Physical Security operations, programs, and personnel in a large geographic area (encompassing multiple states, cities, and/or sites).
The ideal candidate is a professional people manager capable of expertly operating in a matrixed organization and working cross-functionally with other leaders and teams on Physical Security matters.
This leader will oversee Physical Security teams, projects, and policies & procedures to deliver excellent results and respond to exigent matters in a timely manner. Keeping up with the local security environment; establishing mutual aid; building positive rapport with local first responders; managing incidents; and identifying and solving security gaps will be key components of this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and constantly improve physical security and fire & life safety programs at multiple sites/campuses/facilities.
- Ensure that day-to-day physical security and safety operations run smoothly with the appropriate guard, reception, and SOC staffing and resources.

- Write, edit, maintain and update security policies, procedures, checklists, and post orders.
- Train Security personnel to ensure competencies on access control standards and security guard & SOC operator SOPs.
- Establish and effectively table-top and/or exercise staff on emergency preparedness & response protocols for medical, fire, and other workplace emergencies.
- Work with internal and external partners (e.g., property management staff) to establish and maintain cooperative operating procedures related to emergency building evacuations or requests for first responder services.
- Liaise and build positive relationships with fire and police resources.
- Stay up-to-date on technical security solutions; implement improvements where appropriate.
- Help recruit, interview, manage and mentor security talent.
- Constantly review the performance of security team members; participate in vendor Quarterly Business Reviews; and oversee invoices, budgets, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.
- Track incident metrics, analyze data, and create benchmarking to support optimal security practices.
- Ensure incident response, reporting, and after-action review to correct errors.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (e.g., BA, BS,) or 5+ years in law enforcement, military, or intelligence.
- 5+ years of experience in a security management role as well as 5+ years of industry experience in corporate security.
- Security leadership experience with a track record of success and increasing responsibilities.
- Experience in conflict de-escalation and management of behavior, as well as training team members in these same subjects.
- Ability to write defensible and rigorous Policies, Procedures, Checklists, Post Orders, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Capable of crafting security emergency response plans and rolling out training and table-tops to geographically dispersed sites.
- This is a position that demands discretion and professionalism at all times
Preferred Qualifications
- Depth and breadth of security knowledge, principles, and practices, with strong experience in physical security systems & technologies; policy and incident writing; and program development & implementation.
- Experience supervising staff and contract personnel, including hiring, training, developing, and managing performance as well as the ability to travel to other offices; respond to emergencies after-hours; and to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as operational needs demand.
- Ability to present or extemporaneously brief Executives on exigent incidents along with experience with operating physical access control systems, video management systems, and visitor management systems.
- Experience with creating budgets; auditing invoices; crafting & negotiating agreements; and participating in RFPs.
- CPP, CFE, experience in Executive Protection a plus as well as First Aid/CPR/AED certified; instructor-level certified, a plus.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $99983 - $183709 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
