Network Engineer Intern (Technical Infrastructure) - 2026 Start

Responsibilities

We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026 (Earliest starting in January). Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Watch your ambitions become reality as your inspiration brings infinite opportunities at TikTok. Applicants must be current students and maintain enrollment throughout the entire internship period. Graduates are not eligible for internship positions.

Applicants should be available for a minimum 12-week internship, working at least 3 days per week onsite at TikTok's Sydney office.

About the Team
TikTok Networking brings together innovative ideas and technologies from network architecture, software-defined networking (SDN), network virtualization, switch software and hardware co-design, and high-speed networking, to create hyperscale data-center networking solutions that power several of the most popular apps in the world, such as TikTok which serve billions of users around the globe.

TikTok Networking is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable network experience in multiple areas on a massive scale.

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, operate and optimize ByteDance's global network, including backbone, data center, public cloud and Edge/CDN.
- Work with cross-functional teams including but not limited to compute, storage, database, recommendation system, drive the innovation and evolution of ByteDance network.
- Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, perform testing and verification.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
-Undergraduate, or Postgraduate who is currently pursuing a Bachelor/Masters Degree in SComputer Science, Information Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a closely related technical field, expecting to graduate by December 2026.
- Knowledge of computer networking, Internet service infrastructure, IP routing and DNS
- Self-motivated, good communication and written skills
- The English Language is required to communicate with a global team for 7x24 support

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of network protocols including IPv4/v6 TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of public cloud services, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc
- Hands-on experience of network devices, such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, H3C, Huawei and other mainstream vendors.
- Programming/scripting in Bash, Python or other languages
