About the Team:
We are seeking a strategic HR Business Partner in San Jose to act as a dedicated advisor to our Product & Design organizations. In this role, you will partner directly with senior product and design leaders to build the teams responsible for TikTok's core user experience. You will navigate the unique intersections of product strategy, user research, and creative execution, helping leaders scale talent that bridges the gap between technical viability and user-centric innovation. By deeply understanding product lifecycles and design operations, you will shape HR strategies that foster a culture of creative safety, rapid iteration, and high performance, directly impacting how billions of users interact with our platform.
To enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 5 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. Responsibilities:
- Partner with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive HR strategy that directly supports product roadmaps and design scaling initiatives.
- Provide strategic coaching to leaders on organizational design, specifically regarding how to structure cross-functional product pods, design studios, and research teams for maximum agility and impact.
- Act as a trusted advisor on talent assessment and career pathing for highly specialized roles, including Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, User Researchers, and Content Strategists.
- Lead the proactive resolution of complex employee relations issues, mitigating risk while preserving a culture that champions creative exploration and psychological safety.
- Oversee the full-cycle performance management process, tailoring goal-setting and calibration sessions to effectively evaluate both strategic product outcomes and creative design excellence.
- Leverage people data and analytics to provide insights on team health, burnout risks, and retention bottlenecks within high-pressure, fast-paced product launch cycles.
- Collaborate seamlessly with HR peers and Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to design customized compensation, engagement, and talent acquisition solutions that attract top-tier product and design talent.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in Human Resources, with 2+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner.
- Bilingual proficiency in both English & Mandarin to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams based in Mainland China.
- Proven ability to lead and execute talent management, organizational design, and performance management strategies in complex, high-growth environments.
- Strong track record of designing and implementing high-impact HR programs that drive business performance and align with company goals.
- Expertise in leveraging advanced data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, Power BI) to extract insights, inform strategic decision-making, and measure the impact of HR programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience supporting organizations in a high-growth global tech environment.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to partner effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Experience working in a matrixed, multi-cultural, and global organization, with the ability to adapt HR strategies for diverse, geographically dispersed teams.
- Master's degree in Human Resources, MBA, or a related field.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $108000 - $220400 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
