Head of Civic & Information Integrity Policy - Trust and Safety
Responsibilities
The Head of Civic & Information Integrity Policy is responsible for shaping the platform's approach to misinformation, civic processes, and the broader information environment. This role sits at the intersection of public discourse, product design, enforcement systems, and real-world impact.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical instincts with the ability to translate complex, often ambiguous societal risks into clear, defensible policy positions that can be operationalized at scale. You will be expected to form views, pressure-test assumptions, and make hard calls, then work closely with cross-functional partners to turn those decisions into durable policy and enforcement outcomes.
You will manage a team of policy managers, inform leadership decisions, and play a central role in how the platform responds to evolving events.
Responsibilities:
- Set and evolve the platform's policy approach to misinformation, civic processes, and the broader information environment, grounding decisions in clear principles while accounting for real-world harm, free expression, and platform trust.
- Develop precise, enforceable policy frameworks and guidance that translate nuanced principles into rules that can be consistently applied across human moderation and automated enforcement systems.
- Exercise independent policy judgment during high-stakes civic moments and fast-moving information events, including making and defending difficult tradeoffs under uncertainty.
- Serve as the subject matter expert representative for our efforts in Civic & Information Integrity, in coordination with Legal, Public Policy, Comms, and Outreach & Partnerships, supporting external-facing work including regulatory engagement, transparency efforts, and public explanations of policy decisions.
- Partner with Operations and Policy Enforcement teams to continuously evaluate policy effectiveness, surface gaps or unintended consequences, and iterate frameworks.
- Partner with the policy and product teams responsible for interventions related to AI-generated content and inauthentic activity, ensuring misinformation risks are accounted for within their frameworks and decisions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in political science, government, communications, law, or related field, or analogous real-world experience.
- 5+ years of experience in government, technology, or research backgrounds.
- Strong content knowledge of misinformation narratives and dynamics on social media platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in online misinformation ecosystems, geopolitics, elections, and high-risk social or political environments.
- Ability to quickly identify problems, thoroughly analyze them and deliver feasible policy solutions.
- Experience working on international technology, online content, or social media policy issues.
- Proven success in cross-functional collaboration across technical, operational, and policy teams.
Preferred Qualification:
- Previous experience at a fast-moving internet platform company.
