Government Relations and Public Policy Manager - Romania

Responsibilities

The Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.

- Maintain and build relationships with state policymakers and political figures in Romania, Hungary and the Balkan countries
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as legal, communications, and the policy team on public policy matters to help guide the development of products, services, and policies
- Advocate, internally and externally, policy positions that benefit and protect the TikTok user community
- Identify, monitor, and analyze relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, and issues of importance to the company
- Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings
- Execute strategies for engaging with policymakers around issues important to TikTok and our community of creators
- Prioritize state regulatory and legislative action

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- JD or Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience in Public Policy or Government in Romania or Hungary or the Balkans
- Strong internet policy experience Knowledge of the State legislative process Political campaign experience
- Advocacy experience
- Ability to understand the business implications of public policy
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Outstanding writing skills and distilling complex policy issues into simple explanations and compelling messages - Prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
