Director of EU Public Policy & Government Relations

We are looking for our next Director of EU Public Policy & Government Relations, who will play a key strategic part in the set up and future success of our European team.
As Director of EU Public Policy & Government Relations you will report directly to the President for Europe, who is also based in Brussels. You will be responsible for managing a team of government relations and public policy practitioners and coordinate closely with global organization functions and critical business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the representation of TikTok in Brussels to EU institutions & stakeholders, on a daily basis.
- Providing strategic direction to the company on relevant public policy and government relations matters within your region.
- Lead the regulatory alignment on issues of impact, including key EU dossiers such as the AI Act (implementation), DSA and DMA, partnering cross-functionally to support implementation and compliance.
- Build and maintain constructive & meaningful relationships with key policymakers and stakeholders in Brussels in order to represent TikTok's mission and positions.
- Manage and develop a team of high performing and impactful Government Relations and public policy leaders & team members.
- Develop creative strategies to highlight issues of importance to TikTok and deliver world-class advocacy campaigns.
- Identify and analyze relevant trends and legislative proposals with a view to represent TikTok in public forums as a senior representative of the company, including engagements with media.
- Contribute to the wider Europe Public Policy team's success and work collaboratively with internal cross-functional stakeholders to help guide the development of products, services, and policies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant Brussels-based experience in public policy / government relations/ public affairs either in institutions, in house or consultancy. Previous experience with EU institutions will be highly regarded.
- An ability to create networks and allies, a sound understanding of the Brussels political system and a strong contact network with senior policymakers and key opinion leaders.
- Deep knowledge of relevant the EU policy-making process; familiarity with policy issues and regulatory trends that may impact the company.
- People leadership in a matrix, global organization, including coaching and developing the team and managing through ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment and to deliver measurable results.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience representing a company in high-stakes public forums and to high level political stakeholders including media readiness.
- Demonstrated experience leading EU regulatory engagement and implementation for major digital/tech dossiers (ideally DSA, DMA, AI Act, and related enforcement guidance/standards).
- Track record partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Communications to translate policy into operational requirements and measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to be creative yet diplomatic in approach, developing innovative policy solutions while maintaining professional sensitivity and building consensus.
