TikTok External Tech Impact team is committed to strengthening the ties between TikTok and the tech community, including academic institutions, conferences, and industry organizations. Our mission is to amplify TikTok's presence and extend our reach, ensuring that our technologies are well-represented and supported within the developer ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- High responsibility for continuous improvement in TikTok technical documentation, blogs, and the community forum;
- Identify high-potential developer communities, refine messaging to attract new developers, and highlight gaps in developer experience for our product team; Build awareness of TikTok technologies in the industry;

- Lead Technical team involvement in relevant conferences, Hackathons, and Meetups, including oversight of our annual developer conference;
- Participate in technical and academic communities as a practitioner developing an understanding of those communities' needs;
- Acquire and synthesize feedback/sentiment to drive improvement to TikTok products and to the overall experience of the TikTok product family;
- Build and foster an external ecosystem of community influencers, meetups, hackathons, summits, and experts that amplify our messages and extend our reach.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience working in and with developer relations, leading technology standard incubation.
- 1 year of experience presenting at technology conferences, blogging/writing technical articles, or leading an open-source community is preferred;
- Ability to be diplomatic and influence technical practitioners, stakeholders, and globally distributed teams;
- Ability to work globally and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with at least 1 technology area. Privacy-enhanced techniques (PET) for ensuring data privacy and confidentiality;
- Familiarity with privacy or technology law, policy, programs, or other related fields.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $88000 - $151111 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
