Data Science Project Intern (MultiModal Machine Learning Direction) - 2026 Start (BS/MS)

Responsibilities

The success of TikTok's data business model hinges on the supply of a large volume of high quality labeled data that will grow exponentially as our business scales up. However, the current cost of data labeling is excessively high. The Data Solutions Team uses quantitative and qualitative data to guide and uncover insights, turning our findings into real products to power exponential growth. The Data Solutions Team responsibility includes infrastructure construction, recognition capabilities management, global labeling delivery management.

As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience. You will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning in a fast-paced work environment and develop a deeper understanding of your career interests.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to at least 3 months long internship period (full-time), either off cycle / credit bearing Internship , starting from Feb 2026 (latest)

As an intern of the Data Cycling Centre (DCC) team, you will have the opportunity to have an immersive experience in the fast-growing space of AI and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products.

Responsibilities:
1. Research and practice large model prompt word engineering, and explore the application of large models in content understanding tasks, including feature engineering, algorithm design, training, and deployment
2. Design and implement models for video classification, text content analysis, etc. in short video content understanding to deeply support the growth of AI business
3. Support the entire process of AI projects, including model data collection, training, evaluation, delivery and iteration.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s):
1. Undergraduate, or Postgraduate who is currently pursuing computer science, artificial intelligence, or data science
2. Familiar with model development processes, understand common deep learning frameworks (such as PyTorch, TensorFlow) ,practical experience in areas such as Machine Learning, NLP, CV, MultiModal Machine Learning, etc., those with top computer science conference papers will be given priority ;
3. Proficient in using Python for data cleaning, building machine learning and deep learning models;
4. Strong communication and written skills in English.

Preferred Qualification(s):
1. Clear thinking logic, strong data sensitivity, strong learning ability, and proactive work attitude, having algorithm internship experience will be preferred;
