Country Tax Business Partner / Assistant Tax Manager - Vietnam

Responsibilities

Team Introduction:
The TikTok Tax team collaborates closely with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy matters. We ensure compliance with both direct (corporate income tax) and indirect taxes, and we proactively address tax-related issues.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Country Tax Manager to join our team in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to support the growing complexity of our business operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both direct and indirect tax compliance, with in-depth knowledge of Vietnamese tax regulations. A background in e-commerce or Fintech is preferred. This role will be based onsite at our office and will require a 4-5-day onsite work arrangement.

Responsibilities:
- Handle tax compliance work, including preparing, verifying, submitting payments, filing returns, and performing variance analysis. Ensure the timely and accurate filing of all applicable taxes.
- Assist business teams and other departments in assessing daily business operations for tax risk mitigation.
- Assist in responding to tax queries from local tax authorities, including preparing relevant documents and data.
- Assist in reviewing documents (invoices, contracts, and other relevant documents) to ensure tax compliance and mitigate tax risks.
- Assist in assessing internal projects to improve tax processes, enhance business workflows, and mitigate risks or costs to the business.
- Prepare and provide tax updates, regulatory updates, and training that may impact business operations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- Proven track record of effective communication in both Vietnamese and English within fast-paced or cross-functional environments.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant tax experience in an MNC or shared services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Vietnamese tax regulations, including direct and indirect tax compliance.
- Experience in tax compliance, tax audits, and tax advisory matters.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry is preferred.
- Experience working in a regional or global environment.
- Experience in process improvement or tax transformation projects.
- CPA qualification or membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
