Compliance Strategy Lead (Teen Experiences) - Platform Responsibility (San Jose)
Responsibilities
About the Team
The Teen Experiences team builds age-appropriate product experiences for teens users in TikTok. The team owns teen-focused product strategy and partners closely with Safety, Policy, and Machine Learning to ensure a safe, compliant, and engaging experience for younger audiences. We develop teen-specific features, optimize content recommendations and privacy defaults, and support global regulations related to youth safety.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze global policy, legislative, and industry trends related to user privacy, youth safety, and platform liability.
- Shape product direction by anticipating regulatory change and translating early signals into clear priorities and strategic decisions.
- Develop a clear map of key external voices, including academics, civil society, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders, globally and in key regions, and understand their perspectives.
- Partner with product and external engagement teams to build credibility with critical stakeholders across regions.
- Ensure TikTok's compliance positioning and product roadmap reflect regulatory trends, societal expectations, and long-term user trust goals.
- Provide clear, high-quality insights and strategic recommendations to leadership and product teams, highlighting emerging risks, expectations, and opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above, with 5+ years of proven experience in Product Management, Public Policy, or Legal, within technology or social media industries.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks in user privacy, youth safety, and platform governance.
- Proven ability to connect regulatory compliance with business and product strategy.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience engaging policymakers, regulators, or industry associations on policy or compliance topics.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and benchmark trends in youth safety and privacy.
- Ability to synthesize complex issues into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Experience in shaping external narratives or public policy discussions.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $110223 - $248400 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
