This second line of defence team is a dynamic and collaborative group of legal and compliance professionals who provide strategic compliance reporting and advice across diverse areas of TikTok's business. The team works closely with global cross-functional partners and their management teams to address content safety risk management and compliance challenges, enabling the company to achieve its business objectives while maintaining the highest ethical and compliance standards. This role will lead TikTok's second line of defence e-commerce compliance team reporting into the Head of Content & Safety Compliance, Europe. The team's work is highly visible internally and externally and will appeal to those who wish to be pioneers in advising on best practices for translating content regulatory requirements into effective risk and compliance frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on TikTok's risk and compliance activities within its e-commerce business related to content and safety regulation, including the Digital Services Act and the UK Online Safety Act.
- Lead the continual enhancement of TikTok's comprehensive programme of second line assurance monitoring and reporting.
- Provide key risk and compliance advice and support to internal teams engaging with external regulators and auditors, including monitoring and reporting on remediation recommendations and activities
- Advise on the enhancement of strategic approaches to risk and compliance in cross functional e-commerce teams.
- Collaborate across the team and wider business on the development of compliance and risk management policies and procedures.
- Ensure systemic risks are identified and properly reported and that reasonable, proportionate and effective risk-mitigation measures are taken.
- Cooperate with the regulators in conjunction with Legal and GR colleagues. Support the function and wider business in establishing strong relationships with regulators such as the European Commission, Coimisiún na Meán and Ofcom.
- Maintain an independent mindset and effectively challenge where necessary to achieve a robust second line of defence.
- Advocate risk and compliance, champion a positive risk culture and help provide an appropriate 'tone from the top' on risk and compliance matters.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and professional qualification in law, compliance, accounting/audit or similar discipline. Strong compliance experience with 5+ years in a regulated entity/environment within a compliance monitoring or internal/external audit team, for example in a platform, marketplace or in financial services.
- Track record of building and maintaining complex risk and control frameworks and managing audit engagements.
- Experience building trust with regulators and across dynamic working relationships with globally based business teams.
- Proactive self-starter, with the ability and willingness to take a lead on novel and complex regulatory compliance requirements.
- Previous team management experience.
- Have outstanding communication skills that allow you to interact with a wide variety of individuals.
- Be a team player, be adaptable and demonstrate a capacity to influence teams to operate to the highest ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of platforms and good knowledge of relevant legislative landscape.
- Business level Mandarin.
