Backend Software Engineer - Innovative Growth

Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of backend systems that support user growth and content optimization across TikTok platforms
- Contribute to innovative growth initiatives across search, discovery, and other emerging traffic channels
- Support the development of AIGC-powered solutions and scalable systems for content optimization, experimentation, and automated workflows
- Build and improve backend services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance
- Collaborate closely with product, data, algorithm, and design teams to deliver user-facing technical solutions
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and contribute to testing, debugging, and continuous system improvements
- Continuously learn and grow through hands-on engineering work, code reviews, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience with backend development through internships, academic projects, or early industry experience
- Familiarity with one or more of the following languages: Go, Python, Java, or C++
- Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and backend system fundamentals
- Strong learning ability, problem-solving skills, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience related to backend systems, growth, content, recommendation, experimentation, or search
- Exposure to AIGC, LLM applications, workflow automation, or related technical areas
- Experience building or shipping user-facing products through internships, research, or project work
- Interest in search, discovery, and growth ecosystems, including areas such as SEO or emerging AI-driven traffic channels
- Experience with AI agents, agentic workflows, or AI coding tools, with interest in applying them to engineering efficiency and product development

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $122574 - $316800 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
