Associate Product Manager - TikTok Safety Product (San Jose)

About the Team
The Safety Product (or Platform Responsibility)team is at the forefront of building and optimizing content safety systems. With a focus on optimizing and advancing content safety, we leverage advanced large language models to enhance review efficiency, risk control, and user trust. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, we deliver scalable solutions that keep pace with rapid global growth.
Responsibilities
- Support the definition and tracking of product success metrics that reflect user trust and platform integrity goals.
- Participate in product discovery, requirement definition, testing, launch, and iteration under the guidance of senior PMs.
- Assist in analyzing data, conducting research, and synthesizing insights to help prioritize product initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Science, Policy, Operations, and Design teams to deliver product improvements.
- Contribute to the development of AI-powered moderation and detection systems, gaining exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Identify user pain points, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities in misinformation and integrity domains.
- Gradually take increasing ownership of scoped product areas as you grow in the role.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated interest in Product Management, Trust & Safety, AI/ML, or platform governance (through internships, projects, research, or competitions).
- Data-driven mindset; comfortable working with metrics and basic data analysis tools.
- Clear and effective communication skills in cross-functional settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience in Product Management, AI/ML, or data-related roles.

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $122360 - $246400 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
