Job Description:
We're looking for a skilled Staff Engineer to lead the design, delivery, and evolution of store technology across a large multi‑site retail environment. In this role, you'll shape the technical roadmap, guide engineering decisions, and ensure our store systems are secure, stable, and future‑ready.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Roadmap
- Partner with architecture and product teams to define the IT roadmap for Store and Loss Prevention technology.
- Lead and mentor engineers, providing guidance on solution design, architecture, and best practice implementation.
- Act as Lead Engineer on medium‑to‑large initiatives, handling prioritisation, technical decisions, and issue resolution.
Solution Delivery
- Lead discussions on design approaches, deployment patterns, and execution strategies for new store technologies.
- Evaluate and manage third‑party vendors, contracts, and services to support large‑scale technical rollouts.
- Work with Project Managers to break down complex initiatives into actionable, well‑structured delivery plans.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all engineering work aligns with enterprise security and operational compliance requirements.
- Embed security-by-design principles into all solutions and technical decisions.
Technology Lifecycle & Support Transition
- Contribute to lifecycle planning and roadmaps for store systems and hardware.
- Develop documentation, SOPs, and transition processes that ensure smooth handover to offshore IT support teams.
Skills & Experience:
Leadership & Communication
- Experience leading technical teams and driving high‑quality delivery outcomes.
- Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing vendors, contracts, and service partners to achieve measurable delivery outcomes.
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience designing and deploying IT solutions across multi‑site retail environments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies; Windows Serve, Active Directory, Group Policy
- Experience building and managing Microsoft Endpoint/Server images and SOPs.
- Knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms and Android devices.
- Familiarity with POS, Payments, Inventory Management, and Loss Prevention systems.
Security & Governance
- Deep understanding of IT security principles and secure solution design.
- Ability to develop and document robust Standard Operating Procedures for IT support.
