What you will do:

Enterprise Data & Analytics and the Self-service Enablement & Data team thrive on strong relationships with our business partners and working diligently to address their needs which support TJX growth and operational stability. As a Senior Staff Engineer at TJX, you will work with a team that partners with Enterprise Data & Analytics internal teams and other IT Prodcut Delivery teams such as Merchandising to deliver products for one or more business data and self-service teams, coach and mentor engineers within the team and resolve issues as needed.

  • Project and product ownership: Drive the full lifecycle of multiple projects, from initial design and requirements gathering through to delivery and implementation, working closely with key stakeholders & IT leaders across all levels to drive solutions to meet business needs.
  • Technical leadership: The ability to lead without formal authority, influence technical decisions, and provide clear direction to multiple teams/projects guiding them through complex challenges.
  • Strategic architecture and Solution design: Establish complete technology vision, strategy, and capability roadmaps that connect key self-service initiatives across platforms and corporate functions. Lead the design and create, improve, and modify it throughout its lifecycle - working with the clients and IT to ensure all aspects (e.g. from Snowflake to Alation) are working correctly within the Data and Analytics/Self-service data domain.
  • Performance and optimization: Organize & perform regularly scheduled audits to ensure optimization of solutions to enhance data warehousing, analytics, and BI applications to ensure performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Solution implementation and governance: Oversee solution architecture development, consultancy, and assurance for key self-service projects, ensuring applications conform to enterprise standards and reference architecture. Analyze business users needs to develop and implement self-service data solutions via best practices and standards using tools like ADLS, Alation, Alteryx, Databricks, Power BI, Snowflake, and/or TM1.
  • Mentorship and culture: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other/junior engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence by leading by example and promoting standards and best practices.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Build alignment and collaborate across teams such as, architecture, security, engineering, product management and the business to achieve project goals.
  • Technology evaluation and innovation: Research and maintain awareness of emerging technologies, platforms, and best practices in cloud computing, data architecture, analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Self-Service analytics enablement: Design and implement modern data architectures that enable self-service analytics while maintaining centralized governance and data quality standards.

What You will Need (Minimum Qualifications):

  • 10+ years of Engineering experience in Data and Analytics and self-service enablement/technical domain.
  • 10+ years of data modeling, data prep, data profiling, analysis with tool like Alteryx
  • 8+ years Programming and Scripting experience using Python, SQL, Stored Procedures.
  • 8+ years of experience with Snowflake, Netezza or Oracle databases.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Platforms (Azure, Snowflake), Cloud Data Processing (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Snowpark).
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps - CI/CD, Automation, DevOps Tools (Jenkins, JFrog, GitHub, Control-M).
  • Solid knowledge of Agile and DevOps tools such as Git/Gitlab, JIRA, Confluence
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work up and down within the organization to influence others and achieve results

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep technical expertise: Possess extensive knowledge in both data warehousing and self-service tools/software.
  • Experience: Experience in building data and analytics solutions, with a proven track record of technical leadership and ownership of complex projects.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to solve complex technical issues across multiple platforms.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate technical designs and strategies to a wide range of audiences, from engineering teams to upper management and other stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to define technical strategy, plan, and prioritize efforts for development teams.
  • Ability to Learn: Ability to learn, understand and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the data & self-service space to identify new opportunities for innovation.
  • Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and data sensitivity controls.

This position has a starting salary range of $124,800.00 to $162,300.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
