Job Description:

At TJX Australia (TK Maxx), we're committed to creating safer stores and reducing organised retail crime. As an Organized Retail Crime Investigator, you'll play a critical role in identifying and disrupting high‑impact offenders through intelligence-led investigations, surveillance, and strong partnerships with Police and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

Protect Our People

  • Follow all safety protocols during surveillance and field operations.
  • Escalate high‑risk situations to the ORC Supervisor and Police when needed.
  • Take part in pre‑operation briefings and post-operation reviews to continuously improve safety.

Manage Crime:

  • Conduct investigations into organised retail crime and recidivist offenders; gather intelligence and build offender profiles using Resolver, Auror, and other platforms.
  • Perform covert surveillance in high-risk stores and retail precincts; document observations and maintain accurate evidence logs.
  • Communicate real-time intelligence to ORC Supervisor and Police during operations to enable safe apprehensions outside store premises.
  • Prepare detailed case files, witness statements, and evidence packs for Police referrals and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with external partners (Police, centre security, peer retailers) to share intelligence and coordinate joint operations.
  • Monitor emerging ORC trends and provide insights to ORC Supervisor for strategic planning.

Reduce Shrink & Strengthen Operations

  • Support district and state shrink reduction strategies by providing actionable intelligence and investigative outcomes.
  • Validate evidence from internal and external crime incidents; ensure chain-of-custody protocols are followed.
  • Assist in KPI reporting for ORC operations, including offender identifications, arrests, and loss avoidance metrics.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for ORC processes, technology adoption, and SOP updates.

What You Bring

  • Experience in Loss Prevention, investigations, or security; covert surveillance experience desirable.
  • Strong understanding of organised retail crime methodologies and offender behaviour patterns.
  • Ability to remain discreet and professional in dynamic retail environments; high situational awareness and risk assessment capability.
  • Excellent observation, note-taking, and evidence documentation skills; confident in providing statements for Police and court.
  • Effective communication skills for real-time reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • High integrity, ethical conduct, and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with LP systems (Resolver, Auror, CCTV platforms).
  • Valid Australian Security Licence (or ability to obtain and maintain); ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
