Job Description Summary

The Loss Prevention Associate plays a role in safeguarding store assets. The role focuses on minimising theft, fraud and inventory shrink through proactive on-floor presence and the offering of active customer service, in line with TJX Australia policies.
The role supports the overall TJX Australia operational shrink management strategy by acting as a visible uniformed deterrence of potential theft, deescalating customer incidents and maintaining composure, as well as sustaining an effective partnership with the Store Management team.

Responsibilities
Keeping People Safe:
• Consistently wears the designated Loss Prevention Associate uniform
• Providing proactive on-floor presence for the purpose of deterring potential theft and fraud
• Supports in the de-escalation of customer and/or person of interest matters
• Utilises equipment, systems, and information to maintain company standards
• Keeping all Associates Safe policy and escalates concerns promptly to the line manager
• Submits incident reports promptly to the designated system with accompanying evidence requirements
• Conducts and maintains equipment/system checks in line with company policy and routines or as directed

Protection of Assets:
• Uses company tools and resources to deter or detect potential theft, fraud and inventory shrink and escalates to line manager on any identified risks
• Detects and deters persons of interest in a professional manner through the offering of active service in line with TJX Australia policy
• Collates and inputs data as required into the designated incident reporting system
• Can effectively identify and deescalate risk and report issues back to their line manager

• Engages with local operatives to share common problems and solutions
• Supports with investigations as required
• Ability to de-escalate aggressive behaviour in line with TJX policies

Operational Shrink and Loss Reduction:
• Checks relevant information and processes, shares information and advises line manager on any risk identified
• Checks key compliance areas and documents findings on any areas of concern
• Raises issues with line manager and team, uses agreed escalation procedures appropriately
• Uses equipment, systems, information, and functional processes to support the shrink agenda and communicate concerns
• Attends training programmes and can apply and demonstrate learnings
• Raises awareness and advises on best practice basics
• Advises associates about the education and awareness initiatives
Key Skills, knowledge & experience
• Understanding of Security and/or Loss Prevention role within a customer focussed environment
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
• Ability to identify and de-escalate risk
• Ability to de-escalate challenging situations with Associates and Customers
• Deep understanding of TJX operational policies and routines and willingness to expand knowledge continuously
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and ability to learn and adopt new systems
• Calm and professional under pressure
• High level of integrity and self-awareness
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Role Models TJX Leadership Competencies & Cultural Factors (LCCF's)
• Demonstrates humility and respect
• A good standard of written and oral communication
• Security Licence and/ or ability to obtain one (Depending on state)
