Job Description:

We're looking for an Industrial Engineer to help improve how our stores operate by designing smarter layouts, more efficient work methods, and optimized labor models. In this role, you'll use data, observation, and engineering principles to improve productivity across store operations while partnering closely with Store Operations and Supply Chain teams to enhance the Vendor-Distribution Center-Store network.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer who enjoys solving real‑world operational problems and seeing their ideas implemented in the field.

Team Overview

The Sierra Store Operations team is responsible for supporting the Sierra stores organization in delivering highly satisfied customer experiences. The different teams on Sierra Store Operations work in tandem to help stores drive profitable sales and achieve operational efficiencies. What You'll Do

Improve Store Operations

  • Design and implement solutions that improve efficiency and productivity in stores
  • Support store layout design for:

    • New stores, relocations, remodels, and special projects
    • Backroom, office, and support areas (front end, service desk, layaway)
  • Recommend material handling equipment, tools, and technology enhancements
  • Improve work methods and motion economy through observation and analysis
  • Support front‑end scheduling and staffing efficiency
  • Identify process or equipment improvements for markdown management

Labor Analysis & Forecasting

  • Develop and support business driver forecasts
  • Build and maintain engineering standards related to:

    • Labor modeling and scheduling
    • Forecasted staffing plans
    • Labor allocation and optimization
  • Support ROI analysis for proposed operational improvements

Supply Chain Optimization

  • Analyze and recommend improvements across the Vendor-DC-Store supply chain
  • Help design solutions that:

    • Reduce cycle time
    • Eliminate redundant steps
    • Evaluate the best location for floor‑ready tasks within the network

Successful candidates will have:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of Industrial Engineering or related experience

Preferred

  • Experience in a retail store, distribution center, or similar operational environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to balance data analysis with hands‑on, in‑store observation
  • Comfortable working cross‑functionally and presenting recommendations

This position has a starting salary range of $76,800.00 to $97,900.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
