About the Role
We're looking for an Import Compliance Specialist to support the smooth and compliant flow of merchandise into Australia.
In this role, you'll partner closely with Buying, Inbound Logistics, and external partners (including freight forwarders and customs brokers) to ensure we meet all regulatory requirements while keeping our operations efficient and agile.

What You'll Do
- Support day-to-day import compliance activities to ensure merchandise meets Australian customs requirements
- Partner with Buyers, Inbound Logistics, and freight forwarders to facilitate smooth import processes
- Coordinate with brokers on documentation including Certificates of Origin (COO) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA)
- Validate and review data to ensure accuracy and compliance (including use of Excel tools such as VLOOKUPs and data validation)
- Identify potential compliance risks and support internal audits
- Maintain and improve SOPs, ensuring processes are clear and consistent
- Deliver training and guidance to internal teams (e.g. Buying Offices and booking teams) on compliance requirements
- Contribute to process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build working knowledge of quarantine requirements and regulatory frameworks (excluding biosecurity focus)
Who We're Looking For
- Experience in import/export, trade compliance, or customs-related roles
- Background working with importers or within regulated industries (e.g. retail, food, beauty, healthcare) is highly regarded
- Strong understanding of Australian Customs requirements, including documentation, COO and FTA frameworks
- Exposure to quarantine processes and compliance requirements (BICON knowledge advantageous)
- Experience with internal audits, compliance checks, and process improvement
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, data validation, working with large datasets)
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
- Confident communicator, comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups
