About the Internship
The Treasury Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the Director's Office and the Risk Financing Division. This internship offers a professional introduction to treasury operations, risk management, and insurance practices within a major public agency. The selected intern will assist with a variety of projects and daily operations, including process improvement and change-management initiatives, Certificates of Insurance review, data analysis, claims support, and risk-transfer activities. This role provides meaningful exposure to how financial and risk decisions are made, documented, and executed in a complex operational environment
Responsibilities
- Review Certificates of Insurance in accordance with the requirements established
- Gather underwriting data, organize and analyze data as needed
- Create and analyze claims data
- Collaborate with various departments to gather and analyze data for risk management reports
- Assist in the implementation and use of technology and process improvements and documenting procedures
- Provide administrative support for the Risk Financing Team
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration or related discipline
- Basic understanding of insurance principles and risk management concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including Power BI
Desired Qualifications
- Previous internship to work experience in the insurance or risk management industry
- Strong background in Power BI and or other data management tools.
- Familiarity with Certificates of Insurance and claims processing
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
