About the Internship
The Security Technology and Programs department is looking for a summer intern to join their team! The mission of the Security Technology and Programs (ST&P) Department is to develop, implement, and manage safeguards to Port Authority facilities from threats to physical infrastructure, unauthorized access to restricted areas, cybersecurity attacks, breaches of protected security information and insider threats. These safeguards are achieved through establishing security practices, delivering security technology deployments, and providing structural hardening and resilience to agency assets.
Responsibilities
- Assess the Agency's capabilities and requirements regarding security technology and facility hardening to meet or exceed industry's best practices
- Assist in project management responsibilities for design development, design review and construction implementation of security solutions
- Implement the Port Authority's corporate information security policies, Freedom of Information Policy, and Insider Risk Program
- Lead the Agency's pursuit of federal Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act (SAFETY Act) protection
- Update Agency's internal intranet site as needed
- Participate in site visits at Port Authority facilities in New York and New Jersey as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region
- Self-starters with excellent communication, research and applicable technical skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with presentation techniques.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days, or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
