About the Internship

This internship is an opportunity to engage with technology supporting the busiest port on the East Coast. The successful candidate will learn about our Ports and the role technology plays in the Maritime industry. You will interact with Marine software, Access Control software, CCTV software and hardware, as well as Port communication infrastructure. You will learn how Cyber and physical security combine to protect our Ports. You will also participate in pilots of new technologies serving Operations, Traffic, Customer Service, Facility Management and Security.

Responsibilities

  • Desktop Support
  • CCTV Projects Status (Berths, Facilities, Operations)
  • CCTV Hardware State Tracking
  • CCTV Documentation
  • Port Communication Infrastructure Documentation and Status (Switches, Fiber)
  • Computer Hardware Inventory
  • Maintain AV health in Conference Rooms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
  • Major in Network and Computer Systems Administrator, Computer Network Architect, Information Security or related discipline
  • At least one year of completed coursework specific to major, preferably more.
  • Must be able to drive and possess a valid driver's license

  • Problem solving through step-by-step analysis of the process or technical issue

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
