About the Role
This role provides an exciting opportunity to oversee and direct large service contracts involved in maintaining key Port Authority maintained buildings and systems. Successful candidates will be energetic, focused on customer experience, and enjoy supervising contractors as well as motivated to maintain high levels of service.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the General Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for the contract administration of the cleaning contracts for parking lots and other PA owned buildings along with the service contracts associated with the maintenance & repair of elevators, restroom trailers, vehicle arrest system, etc.
Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:
- Verifying billing data to ensure contractor compliance, reviewing contractor's daily work sheets, maintaining accurate files to monitor contract expenses
- Supervision of four (FM-2) subordinate supervisors
- Aiding the General Maintenance Supervisor in the preparation of the unit's monthly accruals, annual budget, financial analysis, periodic variance analyses and new contract development
- In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the development of staff training and development, supervision of P.A. Maintenance staff during off-tours and coordination of snow removal services performed by contractor personnel. The incumbent will be required to respond to and work all snow emergencies, accidents, and incidents during off tours, and make judgments as to notifications and response coordination.
Additional Information:
This position is based at LaGuardia Airport, and the regular work schedule is Sunday to Thursday on B tour (6am to 2 pm).
Must be able to respond to declared emergencies, including snow alerts and work on overtime basis as a regular function of the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- Must have three (3) years of full-time, paid maintenance work experience, with 1 year of paid full-time supervisory experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
- All applicants that meet the above qualifications and have been selected for an interview, must also be qualified on a Port Authority Entry-Level Assessment (ESA) test prior. This test assesses supervisory skills and will be administered virtually.

- Ability to assist in the development, authorization, implementation, and administration of large technical and janitorial maintenance service contracts.
- Ability to analyze financial data and assess contractor performance.
- Ability to effectively supervise union staff/subordinate supervisors, as well as contract staff supervisors while completing a wide range of tasks.
- Ability to provide a superior level of customer service through utilization of available resources and changing priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Port Authority operating policies and procedures, especially those related to administration, labor relations and the ability to interpret union agreements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Applications, (MS Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance equipment, tools, work methods and terminology of various trades: ability to read and plan work from drawing and/ or blueprints
- Knowledge of SAP and board authorization process
- Knowledge/experience with the Port Authority Procurement Process
