About the Role

Would you like to put your Engineering and Project Management skills to the test? Are you ready to work on Aviation Projects that help millions of passengers to get to their destinations monthly? Are you ready to lead meetings to discuss scope, schedule, risks, and project budgets? Join the Engineering Project Delivery Division of the Engineering Department as an Engineer of Projects. As an Engineer of Projects, the successful candidate will be the main liaison between Engineering Teams and Aviation Project Management partners. This position is located at 4 World Trade Center.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main Engineering Department point of contact with Aviation Department partners in project delivery.
  • Responsible for the performance of engineering teams inclusive of design, construction, quality assurance, surveys and cost estimating teams, regarding project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Report to Engineering Senior Staff on project performance regarding compliance with schedule milestones and budget.
  • Troubleshoot project issues, participate and lead strategy sessions to implement new initiatives and fast-track projects.
  • Collaborate with Aviation Department partners to evaluate project delivery methods, i.e. Design Bid Build, Design Build, etc.
  • Coordinate with Aviation Department partners on the development of scope of work and schedule forecasts for Capital Plan projects and new projects.
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams to prepare and submit proposals to set schedule baseline and engineering staff budget. Monitor and report on budget performance and implement mitigations.
  • Prepare and lead monthly presentations to Engineering Department Senior Staff on Aviation Portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in progressively more responsible positions in the development and delivery of A/E projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience in management, engineering design, and/or construction fields including establishment of plans, setting priorities, and incorporating facility requirements into project plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and influencing diverse work groups and project teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer or Architect in the State of New York or New Jersey.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capital planning and assessment, procurement, project planning and development, and risk management protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience with projects that involve significant design and construction elements including the monitoring and reporting of cost forecasts against budgets and the management of project schedules.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, leadership, negotiation and problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of project delivery process including design and construction management, construction estimating and project budgeting and scheduling.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors. The expected compensation range for this role is:

Minimum: $116,194 Midpoint: $151,050 Maximum: $185,900

In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs.
