The Position

At Headfirst, we’re looking for a Camps Specialist who brings strong operational instincts, adaptability, and a passion for supporting teams to our Professional Sports Camps division.

Based in our Washington, DC office, this role travels regularly to camp markets, including those in partnership with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Falcons. You’ll serve as a key liaison across teams—supporting staff, coordinating logistics, and helping ensure each program runs smoothly from planning through execution.


From troubleshooting day-to-day challenges to keeping systems, people, and communication aligned, you’ll play a critical role in bringing high-quality camp experiences to life. This is a jack-of-all-trades role for someone who’s just as comfortable jumping in to solve a problem as they are keeping the bigger picture on track.

Role Information

Location & Travel: This is a seasonal, in-person position scheduled at approximately 20-40 hours per week and based in Washington, D.C. This role will report to the Youth Camps & Events management team. Weekly hours and daily schedules may vary based on camp operations, travel needs, and peak program periods.

 

  • In this role, you’ll support site leaders and seasonal staff and ensure that every camper experience is backed by operational excellence. From seasonal staff training in May to smooth wrap-up in August, you’ll be the calm in the storm and the spark that keeps things moving forward.
  • This role involves travel to our nationwide Professional Sports Camp locations—including those in partnership with the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, and D.C. United—with a primary focus on providing on-the-ground support during June and July staff trainings.

Schedule: Available beginning as early as 6am as needed on camp days and ending when the camp day is done. Typically, Monday through Friday, with some limited weekend work on seasonal staff training days.

 

Compensation: Competitive and determined based on experience and qualifications. 

What You'll Do

  • May 18 – May 30: Pre-Camp Activation and Training
    • Working with the HQ team to understand systems and processes needed for on-site execution.
    • Support the execution of training sessions by attending and shadowing across camp markets, stepping in as needed to assist with logistics, team support, and real-time problem solving. Build a strong understanding of program quality standards and help reinforce team engagement and buy-in to the Headfirst brand and our Professional Sports Team partners in a positive and consistent way.
    • Collaborate with Talent and Training team to facilitate seasonal staff trainings and on-site preparation.
    • Collaborate with Talent & Training, Customer Success, and Product Delivery teams to sync on summer launch deliverables.

  • June 1 – August 14: Camp Execution
    • Serve as an on-the-ground connector between site teams and Headquarters functions, helping assess needs and route challenges to the appropriate internal partners.
    • Conduct site visits to Professional Sports Camp locations, operating as an extension of the full-time Youth Camps & Events leadership team to reinforce program quality standards and support on-site teams in delivering consistent, high-quality program implementation.
    • Provide logistics and operational support across multiple summer camp sites, partnering with full-time leaders to help ensure smooth day-to-day execution..
    • Visit camp sites to provide coaching, ensure consistency, and support staff.
    • Support logistics including tech, supplies, and issue resolution.
    • Uphold operational standards while adapting quickly to evolving camp dynamics.
    • Support camp wrap-up and demobilization
    • Conduct after-action reviews and prepare feedback reports.
    • Celebrate successes and support your team through closeout.

About You

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in youth development, camp leadership, operations, logistics, program management, event planning, or related fields (part-time, seasonal and leadership roles may be considered).
  • 2+ years of experience leading people or managing seasonal teams.
  • Reliable daily availability for the full duration of the season; candidates must be able to work consistently each scheduled day without extended absences.
  • Ability to independently travel to various company locations across the United States as required throughout the season.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort navigating uncertainty and wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Bonus: Experience in youth programming, education, or summer camps.
