The Quality Consultant, Global Specialty Underwriting is responsible for administering the quality analysis program for Global Specialty (GS) businesses. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting file reviews and focus reviews/spot checks in alignment with established underwriting guidelines.
- Identifying development needs based on review results and emerging trends.
- Preparing and delivering reports to the business on an as-needed basis.
This position does not have direct reports and reports directly to the Assistant Quality Director.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for quality of low complexity underwriting across Global Specialty, including automated and digital workflows.
- Support the ongoing oversight of all GS QM programs and the implementation of related recommendations throughout the year, ensuring that each initiative remains on track and aligns with established timelines.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of identified accounts.
- Running policy reports (GURU, Business Objects, 1Step, Tableau) to assist with the identification of review sample.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify accounts, conduct reviews, analyze results, identify trends and correct issues.
- Communicate findings of quality reviews, including formal reports and conduct meetings with business leadership to convey ongoing results and trends. Prepare formal reports as directed by manager.
- Collaborate with business segment on underwriting issues. Provide improvement opportunities as they arise.
- Use the QM platform to record reviews, analyze results, and manage the execution of Global Specialty QM programs.
- Prepare formal reports for underwriting management inclusive of results, trends and observations.
- Maintain knowledge of underwriting processes, procedures and automation: Stay abreast of changing underwriting guidelines and communicate proactively to the business segment.
- Have a thorough understanding of the Global Specialty organization and all relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial underwriting and/or underwriting quality management experience
- Ability to learn and understand various business units' guidelines and practices
- Strong relationship management, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to influence
- Ability to provide feedback in a positive and constructive manner
- Solid organization and time management skills
- Strong technical skills in Excel and PowerPoint
Location:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Lake Mary, FL; San Antonio, TX; Chicago, IL) will have the expectation of working in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$66,800 - $100,200
