This position fills a critical need as a member of the Middle & Large Business Underwriting Learning team supporting the culture of learning within the Middle & Large Business Underwriting organization. We are looking for a Senior Learning Consultant who will be responsible for facilitating various types of learning for new and existing underwriters on a variety of underwriting topics.

The Senior Learning Consultant will also be responsible for collaborating routinely with Middle & Large Business leaders to reinforce training as well as keep training material up to date, relevant, and meaningful. The Senior Learning Consultant will be responsible for facilitating training and creating related material for various new learning requests based on business needs.

This person must be willing to accommodate learning across Eastern, Central and Western time zones.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts and leaders to design and deliver technical training workshops
  • Develop creative and engaging learning solutions curriculum based on adult learning principals
  • Facilitate new hire and advanced curriculum for various departments within Middle & Large Business
  • Collaborate with leaders to identify performance issues, analyze learning needs
  • Design and deliver appropriate learning solutions with measurable results to mitigate knowledge gaps
  • Lead and deliver upon large strategic initiatives related to the field roadmap and staff technical skill build
  • Consult with business partners regarding how adult learning principles can improve day-to-day coaching, management, and leadership effectiveness
  • Deliver exceptional results by overcoming obstacles through problem solving, influencing skills, and determination
  • Manage projects and initiatives within the team through effective planning, and communication with attention to timeframes and due dates.
  • Lead recommendations for improvements to process and procedures; recommending new tools/applications
  • Ensure appropriate application of resources to meet learning continuum requirements
  • Deliver end-to-end solutions for skill-building, performance, reinforcement learning opportunities
  • Master virtual facilitation through various interactive instructional tools and media
  • Ensure all learning curriculum is relevant, accurate and meeting the field and business segment needs.
  • Continuously building skill within the team
  • Observe, evaluate and provide developmental feedback and coaching with peers

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
  • Business Commercial Carrier Underwriting experience with evidence of expertise is required, 5+ years preferred
  • Experience with Adult Learning delivery methodologies and distance learning technologies
  • Technology mastery with virtual learning and curriculum build
  • Curriculum Design and Facilitation experience
  • Grasps complex concepts and translates into practical terms
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to engage on-site classroom and virtual facilitation employees
  • Solid presentation skills; focus on content and engagement
  • Coaching and driving performance of staff for optimal results, holding students to high standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills, builds and maintains effective relationships; is respected and trusted
  • Customer focused; ability to develop rapport and build relationships with business stakeholders
  • Demonstrates organizational "savvy": Business/Organizational Knowledge
  • Proven Leadership skills including ability to persuade, delegate and champion change
  • Ability to inspire excellence through innovative techniques
  • Ability to take on and lead initiatives related to staff technical skill build
  • Experience conducting needs analysis and evaluating success of programs

  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$89,600 - $134,400
