Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Network Performance Engineer to join our IT Engineering team. This role is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing network performance across our enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with packet analysis tools and a strong understanding of network protocols and performance metrics.

Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify performance bottlenecks and anomalies.
Conduct deep packet inspections using tools such as Wireshark and ARX.
Capture and interpret packet data to troubleshoot latency, jitter, and throughput issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve network-related incidents and implement performance improvements.
Develop and maintain documentation for network performance baselines, incident reports, and tuning recommendations.
Participate in the design and implementation of network monitoring solutions.
Provide technical expertise during incident response and root cause analysis.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience with Wireshark and other packet capture tools.
Familiarity with ARX, NNMi, Gigamon Taps, or similar technologies.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.
Experience with network performance monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Ability to analyze packet captures and correlate findings with application and infrastructure behavior.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in enterprise-scale network environments.
Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$90,640 - $135,960
