Bureau/Division Overview:
The role of the Office of Internal Audit and Risk Management (IARM) is to foster the efficient achievement of the mission and goals of the agency. The unit partners with managers and business process owners to manage risks, identify operational improvements, strengthen controls, safeguard data and other key resources and foster compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
Specifically in the coming year, Risk Management's (RM) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program will be significantly expanding. RM is deploying a new comprehensive Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool and building agency-wide risk registers with risk liaisons across DOR's divisions.
Position Summary:
The co-op/intern will support risk management activities, including building risk registers and supporting the team's use of a new GRC tool, Standard Fusion.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist with identification and assessment of operational, financial, compliance, and reputational risks.
- Support ongoing risk assessments and risk validation, including reviewing controls and evaluating risk mitigation strategies.
- Assist with maintaining the agency's risk registers in the agency's GRC tool.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as IT, Tax, Child Support, Finance, etc.).
- Assisting with conducting research.
- Participate in policy and procedure reviews to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with administrative tasks (such as preparing presentations and reports, assembling meeting agendas/notetaking, tracking project statuses, managing SharePoint sites, etc.).
- Troubleshooting and providing general support on Microsoft O365 applications.
- Support the Risk Management team in other daily responsibilities, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing skills, including report writing
- Adept with Microsoft O365 applications (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- High digital literacy
- SharePoint power user (i.e., built/maintained sites)
- Strong time management skills
