Bureau/Division Overview
The mission of the Department of Revenue's Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well-being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family. Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency.
DOR/CSS's core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders. Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.
Position Summary
The intern will be providing customer service support and general administrative support, primarily to the service of process team.
Customer Service Support
- Assisting members of the general public with basic case inquiries via phone, email, or in-person
- Directing customers to appropriate resources and staff members
- Providing information about case status and next steps in the child support process
Administrative Support
- Performing routine administrative tasks including copying, mailing, and assembling document packets
- Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation
Attorney Collaboration
- Working directly with attorneys to confirm proper service of legal documents
- Assisting with the preparation and review of service documentation
- Tracking service completion and updating case records
Service of Process Team Support
- Coordinating with constables and sheriff's offices to facilitate document service
- Managing the flow of service documents requiring amendments or corrections
- Maintaining communications with process servers

Project Exposure and Learning Opportunities - throughout the internship, the intern will have opportunities to:
- Learn about legal service requirements and procedures in child support cases
- Gain exposure to the coordination between legal teams and process servers
- Understand the service of process workflow from document preparation through completion
- Work on special projects that may include tracking service timelines, improving communication protocols with process servers, and enhancing document accuracy procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with remote work technology
- Customer Service experience
- Ability to handle confidential information
