Bureau/Division Overview
The mission of the Department of Revenue's Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well-being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family. Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency.
DOR/CSS's core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders. Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.
Position Summary
The intern will be providing support and general administrative support to the Litigation Assessment team.
Litigation Assessment Support
- Assisting the Litigation Assessment Team with obtaining documentation necessary for referrals to attorney staff
- Gathering necessary documents from customers to support case evaluation
- Reviewing data reports for trends and patterns in case referrals
Customer Communication
- Contacting DOR/CSS customers by telephone to request documentation and information
- Providing guidance to customers on required documentation for litigation assessment
- Following up with customers to ensure timely receipt of necessary materials
Administrative Support
- Performing routine administrative tasks including copying, mailing, and assembling document packets
- Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation
- Tracking document receipt and case progression
Litigation Assessment Team Collaboration
- Working directly with the Litigation Assessment Team on day-to-day office operations
- Supporting case file preparation and completeness review
Project Exposure and Learning Opportunities - throughout the internship, the intern will have opportunities to:
- Learn about the litigation assessment process and criteria for attorney referrals
- Gain exposure to data analysis by reviewing reports for trends and patterns in case outcomes
- Understand the documentation requirements for different types of child support cases
- Work on special projects that may include improving customer communication protocols, streamlining document collection processes, and identifying patterns that inform case prioritization
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with remote work technology
- Customer Service experience
- Ability to handle confidential information
