Please Note: Salary range compensation by hours worked is determined by several factors, including experience, seniority, the agency's budget, and the nature of the role (e.g., short-term contract vs. full-time position). For union positions, salary is determined in accordance with the applicable bargaining unit's salary schedule and governing regulations.
For the status changes to short term: Please note, if you are selected for this position and will be working less than 90 days, the position will automatically revert to a short-term position. Our short-term positions are not part of the salary scale that is advertised within this job posting. Should this position revert to a short-term seasonal position (less than 90 days), your salary rate will be discussed with you during the interview phase of the process.

Job Opening:
The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Seasonal Recreation Facilities Repairer, to perform the following duties:
Duties:
- Inspects recreation facilities to determine the need for repair work and performs maintenance and repair of all facilities and infrastructure including but not limited to painting, mowing, brush trimming, tree removal and building and equipment maintenance.
- Reviews blueprints, plans, schematics and/or technical manuals for maintenance purposes.
- Operates hand power tools, generators, tractors, mowers and associated equipment in connection with repair work and maintenance of bicycle trails, fire lanes, gates, fencing and buildings.
- Picks up supplies needed for maintenance and repair work.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the types and uses of hand-held power tools such as drills and electric hand saws and small hand tools such as hammers and wrenches.
- Knowledge of the types and uses of small measurement devices such as calipers, levels, rulers, steel squares and gauges.
- Skill in using small measurement devices such as calipers, levels, rulers, steel squares and gauges.
- Skill in the use of hand-held power tools such as drills and chain saws, and small hand tools such as hammers and wrenches.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to give oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, specifications, blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to understand and apply the policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina and endurance.
Qualifications
First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the maintenance, repair and/or installation of heating, electrical and/or plumbing systems or in the maintenance and/or repair of swimming pool or ice skating rink equipment, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate issued by a recognized technical institute indicating proficiency in a related trade or craft may be substituted for the required experience.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required.
