Job Description
The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS), is the Commonwealth's lead office for enterprise information technology, delivering secure, scalable, and modern IT services to approximately 40,000 internal stakeholders and millions of residents, businesses, and visitors across Massachusetts.
The primary work location for this role will be at 200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts 02150. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed.
The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid opportunity running through June 1 through August 7. To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or be a recent graduate (May 2026 graduation date).
All offers of employment into this position are conditional and subject to passing: a Massachusetts Criminal Background Check (CORI); a security clearance (fingerprinting) consistent with IRS and/or public safety requirements; and security training.

Position Overview
EOTSS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to support the Identity and Access Management (IAM) program. This internship focuses on documenting technical processes, capturing business requirements, mapping workflows, and supporting governance activities related to enterprise IAM and cybersecurity initiatives.
This role is ideal for students interested in cybersecurity, IT governance, business analysis, or enterprise architecture who want hands-on experience in documenting and improving large-scale identity systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Document current-state and future-state IAM processes, workflows, and integration patterns.
- Assist in capturing business and technical requirements for IAM initiatives, including authentication, authorization, and access governance.
- Support the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), process guides, and knowledge base documentation.
- Participate in meetings with IAM engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to record notes and translate discussions into structured documentation.
- Help maintain documentation for application onboarding, access reviews, role-based access control (RBAC), and privileged access processes.
- Contribute to the development of governance materials such as policies, standards, and process flow diagrams.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, GitHub).
- Support process improvement initiatives by identifying documentation gaps and recommending clarity enhancements.
- Create visual process models using standard diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart).
Learning Opportunities
The intern will gain exposure to:
- Enterprise Identity & Access Management principles
- Authentication standards (SSO, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Privileged Access Management (PAM)
- Cloud-based identity platforms such as Azure AD / Entra ID
- IT governance and compliance frameworks
- DevOps documentation practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business Analysis, or a related field
- Strong writing and documentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to translate technical discussions into clear, structured documentation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity or identity concepts is a plus
- Experience with diagramming or documentation tools is a plus
