Overview

Join Salem State University's Financial Aid team and make a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys. We're seeking a dedicated Financial Aid Counselor to help students and families navigate the complexities of funding higher education.

Financial Aid is seeking an experienced individual to join our counseling team with a focus on Massachusetts state aid programs. This position will be responsible for determining eligibility and the awarding aid funds to MASFA applicants; while also providing support in regards to certification and reconciliation of other state funds as well as other aid administration duties.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum three years of experience in a financial aid office, or five years within higher education
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Aid regulations
  • Background and/or experience working and communicating with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
  • Experience exercising discretion and handling confidential information
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree
  • Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Possess strong technology skills
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft
  • Experience with MA State Aid Programs and systems (Massaid, MASFA Applications)
  • Working Location

    This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities (1-2 work days on site or more if necessary), that requires occasional work on evenings and weekends.
