Description:

This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Candidates may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.

This project supports the goals of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The Drinking Water Intern will assist Drinking Water Program staff with various projects related to water quality, technical assistance, communication, public outreach, source protection and compliance.

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conducting research; data gathering; data entry; using GIS.
  • Document development; document updates.
  • Creating a presentation and writing an article for the Drinking Water Program newsletter.
  • Participation in the weekly staff meeting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major in either environmental/earth sciences, community planning, geography, geology/hydrogeology, or environmental health.
  • Good writing and research skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Ability to gather information and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to understand and apply the regulations, policies, and procedures governing assigned activities
