DCAMM is a central agency in implementing several key policy priorities of the Healey-Driscoll Administration, including promoting decarbonization and climate resilience in all state facilities, identifying and facilitating opportunities to repurpose underutilized state property for housing production, and increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in public construction contracting and in the public construction workforce.
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Facility Manager (Regional Planner III) is in the Office of Facilities Management and Maintenance and reports directly to the Facility Manager in the Western Region. The AFM works with the Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and stewardship of assigned facilities. The Assistant Facility Manager serves as the primary back-up in the absence of the Facility Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing staff including electricians, HVAC technicians, office support staff and janitorial vendors. Co-manages all other vendors providing direct service to the facility.
- Develops and manages operating and capital budgets for the building with Facility Manager and the Office of Finance and Administration.
- Overseeing building contract services and collaborates with other DCAMM business units to ensure contract monitoring.
- Partnering with OFMD Engineering, Environmental, Facility Resources, and IPDM teams to ensure all needs of the facility are met.
- Creating monitoring systems or program for equipment maintenance including evaluating and enhancing current systems for cleaning and repair.
- Utilizing CAMIS, COMMBUYS and other related software for data management and ensures team is trained and able to use the available software & databases.
- Meeting with building occupants to communicate regarding the needs associated with occupancy in the building.
- Participating in DCAMM safety programs and oversees workplace safety and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned
License and or Certification Requirements
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class II Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Emergency Designation
This position has been deemed as an emergency personnel position. During a declared State of emergency and in non-Emergency situations/adverse weather, it will be necessary to report to work.

Qualifications
First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time technical or professional experience in urban or regional planning, environmental planning, transportation planning or land use planning, and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a professional capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in urban or regional planning, environmental planning, urban studies, architecture, landscape architecture, civil, environmental, or transportation engineering or environmental sciences may be substituted for two years of the required (A) experience.
II. A Graduate degree with a major in urban or regional planning, environmental planning, urban studies, architecture, landscape architecture, civil, environmental, or transportation engineering or environmental studies may be substituted for three years of the required (A)experience and one year of the required (B) experience.
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of three years of the required experience. Substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
