Overview

The McKeown School of Education is seeking an Assistant Director who will help lead Salem State University's strategic efforts in developing and supporting a diverse, high-quality educator workforce. The Assistant Director of Community Partnerships and Initiatives will work closely with partner districts and community agencies to support the recruitment, training, mentoring, retention, and success of prospective educators. This position supports our commitment to developing the educator workforce. The Assistant Director is responsible for serving as a liaison for enrolled and prospective students as they navigate admissions, advising, registration, practica, and preparation for licensure through the MSOE. The Assistant Director will engage with academic, operational, and communication systems that support teacher preparation across multiple pathways. This role coordinates MSOE partnerships with local districts and community partners to support teacher pipeline development initiatives (TPDI) such as teacher apprenticeship, early college, licensure conversion, and educator preparation pathway alternatives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience in educational settings
  • Strong experience providing support to populations from a variety of cultural, racial, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience with project management, data collection, and reporting
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, or related field
  • Three to five years of full-time professional experience in a high school, college/university setting or full-time in a college-readiness or other program designed to support students from underrepresented communities in educator preparation
  • Experience developing and sustaining productive collaborative relationships with colleagues in support of student success
  • Evidence of strong written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current research, theory and exemplary practices related to first-generation college students
  • Working Location

    This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends. There we be some travel to meet with partners in the north shore and metro Boston area.
