As a Wastewater Technician, you will operate the plant's wastewater system through monitoring, sampling, and controlling discharge water to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards. Additionally, this position oversees the storm water compliance monitoring program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and adjust as needed the entire wastewater operation as to ensure that all components are operating within allowable specifications, ultimately ensuring that the final discharge is within compliance of federal, state, and local standards.
- Take samples of composite discharge and submit for analysis; daily checks and calibration of pH and flow meters as required. Maintain water discharge logbook records. Communicate with local wastewater agencies concerning discharge matters. Support for incoming water treatment system, as fill-in for Water Technician as needed.
- Order chemicals and supplies for wastewater system.
- Perform monthly Storm water visual inspections and Storm water effluent sampling as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Frequently required to take actions of moderate complexity that will impact the entire plant.
- Notify the departmental manager and SES manager of any potential risks to the system or regulatory compliance.
- Works both inside and outside with routine contact within area and other departments, when required.
- Subject to variable weather conditions within a wastewater environment: wet conditions, noise
- Equipment used - lab equipment, pressure washer, ladders, pumps, hand tools, and computer.
- Position may require employee to work various shifts and/or flexible hours.

Technical Skills/Eligibility Requirements:
- Good communication and writing skills are required.
- Must possess strong math skills to develop formulation.
- Able to read and follow written instructions and knowledgably use a computer.
- Wastewater treatment operator certification and experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of chemicals and good organizational skills are required.
- Must be able to climb ladders in outside conditions without restrictions.
- Must be able to physically negotiate walking over and about pipes, dikes walls, curbs and varied terrain.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools without restrictions.
- Must be able to move heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Safety: knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and wastewater ponds.

Pay Range:
$62,000 - $97,200
Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
