Senior Manager, Sustainability Communication

The Sustainability Communications Senior Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to communicate the company's sustainability initiatives-including Water, Packaging, Climate-to both external and internal audiences. The role aims to strengthen the company's sustainability reputation and leadership by building stakeholder trust through proactive storytelling, multi-channel content, and strategic media engagement. This position also serves as the primary point of contact for sustainability-related media inquiries and collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging
What You'll Do for Us
1. Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement sustainability communications strategies and media plans aligned with the company's vision and priorities, with particular emphasis on Water and 'bottle-to-bottle' recycling initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends; leverage insights to adjust strategies and maximize impact.
- Stay current on best practices and innovations in sustainability communications to ensure industry leadership.
2. Content Development & Media Relations
- Produce compelling, audience-targeted content across multiple channels (press releases, websites, social media, videos, etc.) to highlight the company's sustainability work.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for sustainability-related media inquiries; cultivate and maintain strong, proactive relationships with key media representatives.
3. Events & External Engagement
- Plan, organize, and execute sustainability-focused events, webinars, and speaking engagements to inform and engage stakeholders.
- Manage PR agencies and external partners; oversee press conferences, media events, and development of related communication materials.
4. Collaboration & Internal Engagement
- Foster awareness and participation in sustainability initiatives among internal stakeholders, including associates and senior leadership.
- Serve as an internal ambassador for sustainability, ensuring its integration into company culture and operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in communications, media relations, public relations, or community engagement, preferably with a focus on sustainability.
- Proven ability to develop and produce a wide range of communication materials (e.g., speeches, brochures, reports, news releases, strategic plans, videos, and photography) for diverse audiences.
- Strong network of media contacts and extensive hands-on experience in media relations.
- Proficient in managing social media and other digital communication channels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the capability to serve as a company spokesperson.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
