Senior Manager, Portfolio Strategy
Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Portfolio Strategy is responsible for shaping portfolio choices by translating human, shopper, and market insights into clear strategic recommendations across brands, categories, and occasions. Sitting within the Human & Shopper Insights team, this role provides an enterprise, fact-based view on how the portfolio should evolve to drive growth, relevance, and value.
This role acts as a strategic thought partner to Marketing, Category, and Commercial teams-helping the organization make better decisions on what to grow, where to play, and how to prioritize across a complex, multi-category portfolio.
Please note: This role is not a fully remote position. The selected candidate will need to be based in Shanghai and follow our hybrid work setup.
What You'll Do for Us
Portfolio Strategy & Decision Support
- Develop portfolio strategy perspectives grounded in consumer, shopper, and market insights
- Support decisions on portfolio roles, brand prioritization, pack architecture, and occasion coverage
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that inform category and brand strategies
Human & Shopper Insight Integration
- Leverage consumer, shopper, and channel insights to identify growth opportunities and portfolio gaps
- Connect behavioral insights with commercial realities to inform portfolio choices
- Partner with analytics teams to synthesize insights across multiple data sources
Strategic Partnership & Influence
- Act as a thought partner to Category Marketing, Brand Marketing, and Commercial teams
- Support key strategy processes, including Long Range Planning (LRP) and annual planning cycles
- Influence decision-making through clarity, objectivity, and strong storytelling-not authority

Portfolio Learning & Performance
- Track portfolio performance across key dimensions such as relevance, penetration, mix, and value
- Identify early signals and trends that may impact portfolio strategy
- Build learning agendas to continuously refine portfolio recommendations
Ways of Working & Capability Building
- Contribute to development of portfolio strategy frameworks, tools, and best practices
- Support consistent ways of working across Insights, Marketing, and Commercial teams
- Share learnings and best practices to elevate portfolio thinking across the organization
Perform other job-related duties as assigned, in response to evolving business needs and market dynamics
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- 8-10+ years of experience in strategy, insights, portfolio management, or related roles
- Experience in food & beverage, CPG, retail, or similarly complex consumer categories preferred
- Proven experience supporting strategic decision-making in matrixed organizations
Functional Expertise
- Strong grounding in consumer and shopper insights
- Experience working with portfolio strategy, category strategy, or brand strategy
- Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into clear strategic implications
- Comfort working across multiple data sources and imperfect information
Leadership & Ways of Working
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical rigor
- Influential communicator able to simplify complexity for senior stakeholders
- Comfortable challenging assumptions with facts and insight
- Highly collaborative and effective in cross-functional environments
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Advanced degree in business, marketing, economics, or related field preferred
