Senior Maintenance Manager

Role and Major Responsibilities of Position:

Maintenance Planning

  • Drives planning maintenance activities (Electrical, mechanical, instruments and analyzers) within the plant.
  • Facilitate Problem solving, report on repeat failures and initiate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Drives planning of long-term plant shutdowns and track and update progress on execution.
  • Develop and review maintenance packages for the plant and issue recommendations where required.
  • Budget control, report weekly on shortfalls and forecasts for the next month.
  • Assign jobs to contractors and drive completion
  • Develop tender documents for projects within maintenance teams
  • Provide technical support service
  • Development and review of team goals
  • Making sure there is continuous improvement in asset care

Maintenance Execution

  • Driving RCA for all reoccurring failures and failures with a duration of 2 hours or more.
  • Contractor accreditation and performance management of contractor services
  • Systems in place for operational, routine maintenance
  • Reporting daily plant downtime.
  • Tracking and reporting of engineering KPI's.
  • Provide support to the project team - reviewing and signing off proposed changes.
  • Driving sustainability agenda - Utilities usages
  • Driving daily execution of preventative and planned maintenance.
  • Organization support structure in place for internal and external services
  • Identification of training matrix
  • Identification and implementation of territory rollout maintenance programmes
  • Identification and implementation of national maintenance/engineering initiatives

Reliability Engineering

  • Analyze equipment or system performance data to identify failure patterns.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute reliability test plans and reliability assessments.
  • Implement reliability centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, maintenance, or software teams to improve system reliability.
  • Track reliability metrics and prepare performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards
  • Drive implementation of TPM for the site.

Financial

  • Compile and motivate area budget for the following financial year.
  • System in place for budgeting expenditure control, reporting and decision making
  • Identification of cost expenditures for the purpose of trend analysis
  • Budget support to business streams
  • Reduction of maintenance costs - Opex.
  • Reduction of stores' spares value.
  • Initiate and drive execution of productive initiatives withing maintenance team

Project Management

  • Operational as per project plan.
  • Successful management of approved Funds with no over-expenditure
  • Successful Handover of Projects and 'backup' support
  • Design documented, meets requirements of customer/client
  • No Claims or Legal Action instigated against the Company.
  • Compliance with Company policies
  • Project resources required to perform the work.
  • Employment contracts are in place.
  • Performance managed in line with contract.

QSE Compliance

  • Drive site machine safeguarding compliance with zero deviation
  • Ensures maintenance activities are executed within guidelines of KORE processes and procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to GMP standards
  • Limited/Zero Environmental Impact
  • Timeous response to HSE incidents
  • Drives execution of sustainability initiatives within maintenance teams.

Shutdown Management

  • Manage and lead area teams to meet the targets set.
  • Ensure the area work scope is fully met to the agreed schedule.
  • To ensure before shutdown that job-packs are fully complete and satisfactory, and inspection and test are specified
  • Hold daily meetings with his team to determine the day's targets and prepare the work co-ordination for the following day. Report outcomes to the Turnaround Manager.
  • Be proactive in the resolution of technical and material problems with the respective Engineers/Managers.
  • Attend and report to a daily management control meeting.
  • To appraise the work to be carried out 3 to 4 days ahead of schedule.
  • Ensure all area control systems are adhered to.
  • Ensure the area team makes safety its first priority.
  • Monitor the performance of personnel under your control.
  • Ensure the work is completed to acceptable standards and participate fully in the punch listing activities.
  • Produce report for Engineering Director upon completion of the shutdown, capturing lessons learnt.

Systems & Procedures

  • Systems, policies procedures in place to implement an asset management strategy
  • Performance Indicators - Planning, Workload, Cost, Effectiveness
  • Identification of performance gaps and developing execution improvement plans
  • Identification and tracking of equipment for SAP AM & PM system integration
  • System planning, scheduling of maintenance activities and the quality control thereof

Technical

  • Implement breakdown, preventive, condition-based maintenance - Trend analysis
  • Coordinate Engineering & Maintenance standards
  • Work procedures available for critical maintenance applications

Minimum Requirements for Position:

  • Degree in Engineering or a relevant field.
  • More than 8 Years proven experience in engineering and maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of legal standards and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in SAP maintenance module or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Experience in recruiting and leading a technical team.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Enjoy a multi-disciplined environment with varying degrees of difficulty.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, motivate and produce results through people.
